Last call,
all aboard! Time for departure.
And that’s
how it starts, the first train has found its way out on the playing board, one
less track to journey by for the other eager travelers. In Ticket to Ride you’re
constantly trying to beat the other players in getting control of key lines and
[preferably] the longest lines as well as they score [waaay] more points while
connecting your designated destinations. Don’t be too slow though in collecting
resources, the game ends once a player runs out of trains.
The game
can be both excitingly complex as childishly simple, albeit a player playing
along the line of the latter rarely win.
A player
starts with up to three tickets, each ticket consisting of two cities meant to
be connected in any manner possible. All cities are connected by lines of
different colors and length to each other, in order for a player to take
control over a line he/she needs a specific amount of cards in that lines
color.
Each turn
offers three options, draw more tickets, draw resources or bribe your way on to
a new line.
As of date
I have yet to come across such an easy, fast paced and diverse game.
And, as
with most games from days of wonder, this has several expansions along with a
few stand alone games. It even exists a Ticket to ride Nordic.
Next stop, Chicago . Next stop. Chicago .
