Movie review | Real Steel

Being a huge fan of transformers, of the toys and anime as a kid and the totally awesome movie franchise as an adult, this has been a highly anticipated movie from my side ever since I saw the first trailer. Back then I took it as I saw it, Rocky meets transformers. Lead star: Wolverine. [Me, also being a huge fan of X-men]

I have to admit my first assessment of the movie was perhaps a tiny bit of. There are no transforming robots in this movie and no sweaty, beat up guy, from Philadelphia hollering about Adrian, nor is there an immortal hairy guy with retractable claws either…

Nevertheless, the movie is not to be missed. It has a good pace, a nice mix of slow drama scenes and major action sequences, superb special effects and is masterfully directed. Granted, the plot is far from complicated, the clichés are lining up just to be ticked of every ten minutes. But what do you expect? It’s an action movie about boxing robots(!) made for the big screen and a broad audience [the audience in this case being mainly of the male gender].
