Board Game | Ticket to Ride:UK

Ticket to ride UK, designed and created by Dave Miller with finishing touches by Ken Meyers, is a free, unofficial, expansion to the original Ticket to Ride [or Ticket to ride: Europe]

Dave created this wonderful expansion back in 2009, presumably bored by the unchanging playfield as most of us fans tend to get. Why Britain you might ask, it being such a tiny country and all, well because he's British... who knows how they think?

The game comes with a few new rules as well.

  • 4 - 5 players are only allowed 40 trains
  • each player receive 5 tickets in the beginning and must keep 3
  • additional tickets, draw 4 and keep at least 1
  • no double routs available for 2 players, only grey doubles for 3 and all lines are open when playing 4 - 5 players.
  • the circle line only need the 4 stations connected, the complete circle does not need to be fulfilled.
  • Longest rout still applies

UK is much more cluttered than the American version, perhaps more comparable to the European map. Already when playing two players is it impossible not to get in each others way. With so many smaller connections the disaster is bound to happen sooner or later, instead of 10 points you get 5 and lose three turns by having to go through every small town there is...

This is of course not necessarily a bad thing, it simply presents more of a challenge :)

If you're interested in this well made expansion you may find it at Daves blog.
